Responsibilities
The Cardiac Sonographer I will work Regular Full-Time Days performs prompt, courteous, and quality technical diagnostic studies and support services at an expert level.
The Cardiac Sonographer I perform routine, urgent and emergent transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography diagnostics in accordance with IAC guidelines and established protocols as measured by physician feedback and managerial observation.
The Cardiac Sonographer I collaborates with team members to provide excellent patient service and serves as a mentor for students and level I sonographers as requested.
The Cardiac Sonographer I works closely with the clinical secretary to assure timely patient access to echocardiography services and responses to physician referrals as measured by patient and co-worker feedback and managerial observation
Qualifications
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.
Education/Qualifications:
Associates Degree in the field of science and graduation from a cardiac ultrasound program
Experience:
1 year relevant health care experience preferred. Prior experience as a cardiac sonographer preferred Broad knowledge of general cardiology pathophysiology and diagnostics required.
Licensure/Certificates:
Registry eligible for Adult Echocardiography by ARDMS. RCS Certification from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) or RDCS Certification from ARDMS (American registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) required within 12 (twelve) months of employment. BLS Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Drivers License required.
Skills:
Ability to provide quality diagnostic adult and pediatric echocardiograms for emergency, inpatients and outpatients in accordance with IAC standards and laboratory protocols. Ability to provide quality exercise and pharmaceutical stress echocardiograms. Ability to assist the performing physician with transesophageal echocardiograms. Excellent communication and relationship skills.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires extensive standing, leaning and walking. Advanced level of manual dexterity for probe positioning with repetitive motion is required. Must be able to transport (rolling) echo equipment (approx. 450 lbs.) Requires positioning, lifting and transferring patients frequently. Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA. Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
